Have these four things ready
A minute of preparation shortens the call and sharpens the number you get off it. If you do not know one of them, say so and we work around it.
Where you are. A cross street, a mile marker, an exit number, a pinned location sent by text, or the name of the yard. On a rural road, the nearest landmark beats a street name.
Year, make and model. For equipment, the manufacturer and model off the data plate. This decides whether the right part is already on the truck.
What it is doing. Plain words are fine. Crank but no start, pulls hard right when braking, warning light on the dash, a puddle underneath that was not there this morning.
Whether you are safe. Live lane, soft shoulder, blind curve, private lot. That changes both the urgency and where you should be standing while you wait.

What happens after you call
- You describe itThe conversation starts with the symptom. Expect a few questions: does it crank, does the dash light stay on, when did the noise start.
- You hear what it costsBefore anything is loaded or driven, you get a real number based on what you have described, along with an honest window for arrival. If a part has to be picked up on the way, that is part of the same conversation.
- Anything unexpected gets a phone callIf the fault underneath turns out to be bigger than the one on top, you hear it right then and decide what happens next. Nothing extra gets done quietly and appears on the bill.
- You watch it get finishedBecause the work happens where you are, you can see the old part come off. If a repair genuinely needs a lift or a press, you are told before anything is started.
How to describe a noise over the phone
Most people apologize for not knowing the right word. The right word is unnecessary. What helps is when the noise happens.
A sound tied to road speed that disappears when you coast points somewhere different from a sound tied to engine speed. A squeal only when braking, a clunk over bumps, a click only when turning: each sends the diagnosis down a different path before the truck arrives. Smells and leaks count too. Sweet steam is not the same as burnt oil, and a red puddle is not the same as a green one. If you can hold a phone up to it safely, a recording or a photo sent by text often settles it outright.

Fleets, yards and recurring work
If you run more than a couple of vehicles, the useful conversation is not about one repair. Tell us how many units you run, what they are, where they sit overnight and when they are least busy. Preventive service gets scheduled into that gap rather than into business hours.
From there it is usually a standing rotation: oil and filters, brake checks, BIT and FMCSA inspections at your yard or at the shipper, and a call when something on the walkaround looks wrong. Companies that do this stop having the breakdown that costs a day of freight, because a thin pad and a weeping hose both announce themselves weeks in advance if somebody is looking. Municipal yards, construction crews, farms and warehouses set it up the same way.
Tell usFleet size, vehicle and equipment types, yard location, and the window when units sit idle.

Before you dial
The questions that come up most on a first call.
Why is there no contact form on this page?
Because a form would slow you down and this is a phone-first business. A breakdown needs a conversation, not a message sitting in an inbox. Call or text (707) 553-3369 and you are talking to the mechanic instead of waiting on a reply.
Can I text instead of calling?
Yes, and text is genuinely better for some things: a dropped pin, a photo of a leak, a picture of the data plate on a piece of equipment, or a part number. For anything urgent or unsafe, call rather than text.
Will I know what it costs before anyone drives out?
You get what it’ll cost before the truck leaves, based on your description of the problem. There is no hourly minimum, so a quick repair stays a quick repair on the bill, and any change to that figure is discussed with you before the work continues.
What if I do not know what is wrong?
That is the usual situation and it is fine. Describe what you hear, see, smell or feel and roughly when it started. Sorting out what it is likely to be is part of the phone call, and it does not cost anything.
Tell us where you are
Whether it is a commuter car in a driveway or a loader stopped in the middle of a jobsite, the same number reaches the person who will be working on it.
