Services

Everything we do, we do on the side of the road, in your yard, or in your field

There is no shop to tow to. The truck carries the tools, the parts we use most, welding gear and a hydraulic kit, so most repairs finish right where the breakdown happened. If a job truly needs a lift, we tell you that straight and help you figure out the cheapest way to get it there.

Roadside assistance

Flat tire on the freeway shoulder, a battery that died in a parking lot, keys locked inside, a trailer tire that split on the way out of town. We handle jump starts, tire changes, lockouts and battery replacement around the clock, and we come to weigh stations, truck stops and rest areas on I-80, I-680 and Highway 29 without a fuss.

Mobile mechanic repairs

Diagnostics on site, brake jobs, oil changes, belts, hoses, starters and alternators, diesel work and welding. Cars, pickups, box trucks, semis and trailers. If it runs on the road in the North Bay, chances are we have had it on jack stands in a driveway somewhere between Vallejo and Vacaville.

Agricultural repair

Field service for tractors and farm machinery: utility and row-crop tractors, skid steers, telehandlers, grape harvesters, vine strippers, air-blast sprayers, balers, swathers, combines and loaders. Hydraulic, mechanical and electrical work done in the vineyard or the barn, so a breakdown in the middle of harvest does not cost you the week.

Heavy equipment and machinery repair

Loaders, forklifts, excavators, cranes and other construction and industrial equipment, serviced on the jobsite or in the warehouse. Forklift repair for material handling operations is a big part of our week, and we carry what it takes to get a dead unit lifting again instead of waiting on a hauler.

Fleet maintenance and commercial service

Preventive maintenance and on-site inspections for trucking outfits, delivery fleets, contractors and dispatch companies. Scheduled service at your yard keeps trucks earning instead of sitting, and more than one owner who called us for a single breakdown has ended up handing us the whole fleet.

BIT and FMCSA inspections

Certified mobile inspections for California BIT compliance and federal DOT audits, performed at your business, at the shipper or at the yard. We check the truck properly, fix the small things we find while we are under it, and leave you with paperwork you can hand an inspector without worrying.

We don’t charge hourly minimums or leave anyone stranded. Show up quickly, do the job right, and treat every customer like family.

Patrick Freeman, owner

Why people keep our number

Started by a mechanic who got tired of watching people wait

Patrick Freeman spent more than 25 years fixing vehicles and machinery for other people’s repair companies before he started Freeman Roadside Repair in 2022. What pushed him to go out on his own was watching too many customers get left waiting on the shoulder, quoted one number and billed another, or simply ignored because their job was too small or too far.

So the business was built around one promise: reliability when it actually matters. That means answering the phone at 1 AM, making the drive from Vallejo to Clear Lake for a set of battery cables, and pricing the work before the truck rolls so nobody is surprised at the end. It means no hourly minimum, which matters when the fix is a ten-minute jump start and not a rebuild.

Speed is the other half. A mobile mechanic who shows up in twenty minutes at the weigh station is worth more than a cheaper one who shows up tomorrow. Freeman Roadside Repair is a small operation on purpose, which is exactly why the same person who answers your call is the person who turns up with the tools.

Reviews

What drivers say after the truck leaves

Real Google reviews from people who called at bad hours from bad places. Names as they appear on Google.

Patrick saved us; he responded to our call and met us immediately even though it was late at night. We had to replace our trailer-camper tire. He was very knowledgeable and was able to get us back on the road safely. Professional, efficient, friendly, affordable.

Christian Lipton

I’ve used his services at least 4 times now, never overcharged, always honest and reliable. No disappointments! Finally found a trustworthy, knowledgeable mechanic for life. His rates beat anyone around.

Mary Sue Trimble

Freeman made the long drive from Vallejo to Clear Lake at 1 AM to replace the battery cables and batteries. We genuinely appreciate his commitment to serving our needs. An invaluable resource for our company.

Stratton Oaks Trucking Inc.

I needed a thorough inspection for my truck for my DOT audit. He arrived at the shipper I was at in Lodi and conducted a comprehensive inspection. He also fixed a few minor issues he noticed. His prices were reasonable, and I saved his number.

Elijah Idris

Other reviews mention a twenty-minute arrival at a weigh station, an emergency oil change ahead of flash flooding when every shop was closed, and a dispatch company that now sends its whole fleet our way. Read all of them on Google Maps, or check our BBB profile.

Where we go

Home base is American Canyon. The truck goes a lot further than that.

Most calls come from Napa and Solano counties and the I-80 corridor, but we work the whole North Bay and East Bay, and we have made runs to Lodi and Clear Lake when a customer needed it. If you are somewhere not on this list, call anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can get there in a useful amount of time.

Call (707) 553-3369 with your location and we will give you a real arrival window, not a guess.

Questions

Things people ask before they call

Short answers. If yours is not here, the phone is the fastest way to get it answered, and there is always someone on the other end.

Do you really answer at 3 AM?

Yes. Freeman Roadside Repair runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Flat tires, jump starts, lockouts and breakdowns do not keep business hours, so neither do we. Call (707) 553-3369 at any hour and you reach a person, not a voicemail queue.

What kinds of vehicles and equipment do you work on?

Cars, pickups, box trucks, semis and trailers on the road side; tractors, harvesters, sprayers, balers and other farm machinery in the field; and loaders, forklifts, excavators and cranes on jobsites. Diesel and gas, hydraulic systems, electrical and welding are all in the truck.

Is there a minimum charge or an hourly minimum?

No. We do not charge an hourly minimum. You get a clear, upfront price before work starts, and a ten-minute job is billed like a ten-minute job. This is the single thing customers mention most in their reviews, and it is the reason the business exists.

Can you do BIT and FMCSA inspections at my yard?

Yes. We are certified to perform BIT and FMCSA inspections on site, at your business, your fleet yard, or wherever the truck happens to be parked. Minor issues found during the inspection can usually be corrected in the same visit.

How far will you travel?

Our regular territory is American Canyon, Napa County, Solano County, and the North and East Bay: Vallejo, Benicia, Fairfield, Vacaville, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael, Hercules, Martinez, Concord, Walnut Creek, Antioch and the towns in between. We have gone further for customers who needed it. Call and ask.

Do you handle emergency breakdowns during harvest?

Yes. Equipment failure during a tight harvest or planting window can put a high-value crop at risk, so we treat field breakdowns as emergencies. We bring the mobile service truck to the vineyard, orchard or ranch and do the diagnostics and repair in place.

How do I get service?

Call or text (707) 553-3369. Tell us where you are, what the vehicle or machine is, and what it is doing. You will get a price and an arrival window before the truck leaves. There is no online booking form because the phone is faster and it means you talk to the mechanic directly.

Get help now

Stuck right now? Call. Everything else can wait.

One number reaches the mechanic directly, any hour. Tell us where you are and what happened, and you will have a price and an arrival window before we hang up. Not urgent? Text the same number with a photo and a description, and we will get back to you to schedule fleet service, an inspection or a farm equipment visit.
